Practical support for everyday routines and tasks

Support for everyday activities

Activities of Daily Living at HHWSS supports people with the practical routines that make everyday life work — things like personal care, household tasks, and daily organisation. Support is provided in the person’s own environment, with time to practise skills, build confidence, and maintain routines in ways that feel achievable and respectful.

HOW DAILY LIVING SUPPORT WORKS

This support is about consistency, learning through repetition, and doing things in ways that actually fit day-to-day life.

Working within real routines

Support happens in the context of normal days — mornings, evenings, appointments, and home life — not artificial activities.

Building skills over time

Skills are built gradually through practice and repetition, allowing time for learning to settle and confidence to grow.

Adjusting as needs change

As confidence grows or circumstances change, support adjusts to match what’s needed at the time.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions about Daily Living support

These answers explain how this support works in practice at HHWSS.

What kinds of tasks are included in Activities of Daily Living?

Support may include personal routines, meal preparation, household tasks, managing appointments, transport planning, or organising daily schedules. The focus is always on what helps life run more smoothly day to day.

Will staff do tasks for me or help me learn how to do them?

That depends on what’s needed at the time. Sometimes support involves hands-on help. Other times it’s about practising skills together so confidence and independence can build gradually.

What if I need to repeat the same task many times?

That’s completely normal. Repetition is expected, not a problem. We’re comfortable working on the same routine over multiple sessions until it feels familiar and manageable.

How does this support work alongside other services?

Daily Living support works best when it aligns with other supports in your life. We stay in communication so routines, expectations, and goals don’t pull in different directions.
